Maintenance TipsOur Recommendations for Preserving Product Quality

Gently insert the squeegee into a machine or manual squeegee holder. Use squeegee thicknesses appropriate for the holder and avoid forcing it in. If the holder allows, regularly change the printing side of the squeegee to reduce deflection under pressure and speed. Rotate your squeegees: chemical and mechanical wear leads to deformation, replace it with a new squeegee and let it rest flat for 24 hours.

Cleaning

Remove excess ink with a cardboard or cloth. Clean the squeegee with a cloth soaked in appropriate cleaning products. Avoid using aggressive solvents, particularly ink thinners. Let the squeegee rest to allow solvents to evaporate before reusing or sharpening it.

Sharpening

serilor® squeegees can be sharpened using all commonly used methods in screen printing. Only sharpen dry squeegees. Never sharpen a squeegee that is still soaked with solvents. Never clean a freshly sharpened squeegee with solvents. Avoid removing too much material in a single sharpening pass. Accurate printing requires preventive sharpening to level the squeegee edge to the shape of its holder.

Storage

For medium or long-term storage, squeegees should be laid flat, unrolled, especially before use. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light sources. Exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity can alter hardness.

Why Use Polyurethane in Screen Printing Squeegee ProductionA Polyurethane Parts manufacturer with specialties for screen printing

FIMOR spécialiste de la sérigraphie avec ses pièces en polyuréthane
  • Chemical Resistance: It resists aggressive inks and solvents. Polyurethane is often used in protective coatings.
  • Abrasion Resistance: It resists friction wear over screen mesh. Polyurethane is used in the manufacture of industrial wheels and conveyors.
  • Elastic Properties: It retains its dynamic elastic properties on printing machines. Polyurethane is used in automotive shock absorbers.

Research on polyurethane compounds dates back to 1849 and 1937 with Charles Wurtz and Otto Bayer. Polyurethane results from the reaction between an isocyanate and an alcohol, offering exceptional chemical and mechanical properties, including fatigue resistance.

FIMOR’s serilor® squeegees offer high resistance to abrasion and aggressive solvents. FIMOR excels in multi-layer squeegees, combining the flexibility of low-hardness PU with the mechanical resistance of high-hardness PU.

FIMOR uses European raw materials compliant with RoHS and REACH standards. The ISO 14001 registered            company continually improves its manufacturing techniques to reduce its ecological footprint.
